I recently got a question from two of my colleagues. Why their custom entity is missing from the regarding list in the App for Outlook.
They checked a number of settings and security roles but couldn’t figure out what was missing.

So my first question ”is the entity added to the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook” struck them by surprise. Almost as much as my surprise that they didn’t know they could control the look and feel of the App for Outlook by modifying the actual app. Mm that actually sounds kind a logical if you state it like this..

So since there where two of them I decided it wouldn’t be a bad idea to write this down in a post. As it’s just a few easy steps.

The easiest way to get started is to click on the 3 dots next to Dynamics 365 App for Outlook and open the app designer.

Select the missing entities from the entity artifact list

Save, publish and you are done!

It’s also possible to control the views and filters used by the outlook app.
Which is all described in detail on Microsoft docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/outlook-app/filter-entities-and-views
